Today, October 9, marks the official anniversary of the Marian apparitions in Champion, Wisconsin. Today, the apparitions are known as Our Lady of Champion, being the first confirmed appearances of the Mother of Christ in the United States. Appearing on the eve of the Civil War, Mary’s appearance in America – like every Marian apparition – has massive significance for the history and the future of the United States. The apparition took place near Green Bay, Wisconsin, and hence is a major reason for the Church in that Diocese of Green Baby to celebrate.
